How to import a PNC or US Bank statement into QuickBooks

When a direct feed isn't connected (or keeps dropping), the fallback is to download the statement from your bank and import the file. The exact menus differ by bank, but the shape is the same.

The general process

  1. Download the transactions from online banking. PNC and US Bank typically let you export a date range as CSV, and sometimes as QFX/OFX.
  2. If you got CSV, format it for QuickBooks Online, or convert it to .qbo/OFX for a cleaner import.
  3. If you got QFX, note that QuickBooks may not accept it directly — see QFX to QBO.
  4. Import via Upload from file (Online) or Web Connect (Desktop).
Bank export screens change often, so we're describing the general route rather than exact button labels. The reliable part is the destination: a well-formed QBO/OFX imports more cleanly than raw CSV.

If the import is rejected

A converted .qbo can still bounce with the INTU.BID “bank not authorized” error if the bank ID isn't recognized — that guide covers the fix.

Your bank isn't connected? Convert instead

The converter we're building turns a downloaded PNC/US Bank statement (PDF or CSV) into a QuickBooks-ready QBO/OFX file. Private beta — tell us your bank and we'll prioritize it.
